A volcano and the walks
Stromboli
An active volcano. The village lives at its foot and the Sciara del Fuoco is watched from a safe distance. Climbing to the craters, when it is allowed, is not a free stroll.
What to see
- The viewpoints over the Sciara del Fuoco, from a safe distance.
- The village and the black beaches.
- The craters only with an authorised guide and an open path.
What to bring
- Hiking shoes if you are thinking of the paths.
- A jacket: the wind picks up in the evening.
How much walking
High. High on the volcano paths. Lower if you stay in the village.
Warnings
Stromboli is an active volcano. The state of the paths changes. Read the official bulletins before you leave. This site does not publish the activity level.
Who it suits
